2011 Brown Bag Buddies Underway! |

As the days get warmer, our thoughts turn to summer...and to the kids who don't have access to lunch programs while school is out. You can help! For the past 11 years, the BVC has generated over $320,000 in financial donations and kid-friendly food items to local food pantries.

 Hunger doesn't take a vacation - but kids in school do. In fact, summer recess is an extremely difficult time for low-income families because free or reduced-cost school breakfast and lunch programs take a vacation, too.
The BVC organizes an annual summer food drive to ease the burden on these families and insure that food pantry shelves are filled with nutiritious, "kid-friendly" foods like cereal, peanut butter and jelly, canned meats, macaroni and cheese, and juice.
We partner with Center for Food Action and other food pantries throughout the state to distribute food and grocery store gift cards - worth almost $330,000 to date.
